Here are all the resorts on disney property.
Animal Kingdom Lodge
|
Animal Kingdom Lodge is adjacent to Disney's Animal Kingdom and opened in 2001. This resort resembles a small African lodge, built on a watering hole, near an extinct volcano. The watering hole starts outside the resort, runs inside, under a bridge, through one of the restaurants, and back out the resort.
The savannah which has no connection to the Animal Kingdom wildlife area, has various forms of wildlife in the 3/4 of the resort that it covers. You can expect to sometimes have animals as close as 30 feet from your windows. As you drive up to the resort, all you see is a small gathering of huts. The incredible size of the resort is hidden from the front. It will be like driving up to a small Safari Village.
Nightly by the large glass wall a Cast Member from Africa tells stories. "Safari Guides" are also on hand to educate guests on the animals. The lobby has a 5 story fireplace. Guests enter the Lodge on the 3rd floor. There is a huge picture window which looks out upon 33 acres of land. From here, you can walk out onto an elevated viewing area, Arusha Rock, and enjoy the roaming animals. Throughout the rest of the lobby you'll find examples of authentic architecture and designs. Rich wood tones surround the large mud fireplace and natural lighting will celebrate dawn and dusk with features that accentuate spectacular sunrises and sunsets. In the hallways, there are alcoves with glass windows providing Savanna overviews.
This hotel is uniquely laid out, with all of the rooms in wings attached to the main building. It follows the Kraal African Village design of a horseshoe, giving all but 100 of the 1307 rooms a view of the private wildlife reserve. The animal plains extend almost completely around the entire complex, stopping at the backsides of the two front wings. Guests will be able to stand on their balconies and watch animals and birds on the African savanna.

Magical Journeys Travel
When we first went to Disney as a child in 1974, we knew where we wanted to stay. The Contemporary Resort even today commands quite a presence. Modularly constructed, it towers above the nearby Magic Kingdom and inspires the forward thinking vision of Walt Disney. The giant 15 story A frame center piece of the hotel complex has the monorail system buzzing through just above the 4th level concourse. Take a step back and soak in all there is to see in it's majestic lobby. The resort features 1,041 rooms, six shops, two snack bars, a marina, beach, large pool and much more. Don't miss dining on the 15th floor California Grill Lounge or the fun of the first floor Food and Fun Center.

Ok, we'll go ahead and say it... this is a fancy resort. When we first visited to have lunch in one of the restaurants in the hotel, we felt severely under dressed in a polo and shorts. This 900 room Victorian resort is meant to evoke a turn of the century elegant Florida. Services include five restaurants, five shops, arcade, lounges, swimming pools, beach front on the Seven Seas lagoon, convenient monorail access and a whole lot more. Everything here is elegantly done. Dining: If I want to be close to the monorail where should I request? If I want to be close to the pool where should I request? Polynesian Resort Magical Journeys Travel Probably our favorite of all resorts partly for nostalgia reasons (it was the first resort we ever stayed in), partly for design and setting and partly for convenience. South Sea theme abounds. From the second you walk into it's tropical lobby, your cares of the outside world are left behind. Could this really be in Florida? Our favorite time of the day at the Polynesian is evening, as tiki lamps are lit and soothing sounds of the islands float through the air. Walk down by the boat dock and kick your shoes off and walk in the sand beach of the Seven Sea's lagoon. The Polynesian occupies 39 acres - 11 long houses - 853 guest rooms, encompass the Monorail linked hotel. The Magic Kingdom is just minutes away and you can walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center to catch a ride to Epcot (on a hot day, you can alternatively take the monorail there for a relaxing ride). The Polynesian has a number of places to eat, 6 gift shops, 2 pools, laundry facility and an arcade. Original Name -- New Name Size of Rooms: 404 square feet Occupancy: Rooms offer a daybed with a maximum five-person occupancy. If there are more than 2 adults in a room, there is an additional charge of $25 per adult, per night. Polynesian In-Room Dining For the Swimming Fan: 2 Pools - Nanea Volcano Pool & a "Quiet" Pool. Transportation: Room Location: Be on the look out. There are at least 20 different Hidden Mickey's scattered throughout the Polynesian resort. A Hidden Tinkerbell can be "found" in Captain Cook's. It's tradition at the Polynesian to throw a penny into the pond as you leave. It represents a wish to return to the resort.
